As an EdTech platform, we collect information necessary to provide educational services:

• User Identity: Names, usernames, and roles (student, teacher, admin).
• Academic Records: Grades, attendance records, assignment submissions, and quiz results.
• Communications: Messages sent via our internal messaging system and social interactions on Edgram.
• Device Information: Technical data such as browser type and IP address (used primarily for security and performance tracking).

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the collected data exclusively for educational and administrative purposes:

• To manage classrooms and track student progress.
• To enable communication between students, teachers, and parents.
• To generate academic reports for school leadership.
• To improve our platform features (using anonymized analytics).

3. Data Security & Storage

We employ a hybrid architecture to maximize security:

• Local Storage: Your primary data is stored on your school's local server, giving the school direct control over its records.
• Cloud Backup: Data is synchronized to secure, encrypted cloud servers (MongoDB Atlas) to prevent data loss and enable remote access.
• Encryption: Sensitive information, including passwords, is hashed using industry-standard encryption protocols.

4. Student Privacy & Parental Consent

EdCon complies with major student privacy standards (such as COPPA and GDPR). We operate under the "School Official" exception, meaning schools provide the necessary consent for student data collection on behalf of parents. Schools are responsible for notifying parents of their use of EdCon.

5. Data Ownership

The school owns all academic and student data. EdCon acts as a service provider (Data Processor). If a school chooses to terminate its service, we provide a full export of their data and delete our copies according to the school's instructions.

6. Third-Party Sharing

We do not sell student or teacher data. We only share information with trusted service providers (e.g., cloud hosting or AI tools) strictly for the purpose of providing EdCon services.

7. Your Rights

Users (or their parents/guardians) have the right to access, correct, or request the deletion of their personal information. Requests should be directed to the school administrator in the first instance.
